Anti-Pollution Activity, Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Fermented Extract from Smilax china Leaf in Macrophages and Keratinocytes

Air pollution has considerable effects on the human skin, showing that every single pollutant a different toxicological impact it. The oxidative stress exceeds skin’s antioxidant capacity can lead to damage and premature skin aging by repeated air contact. In this study, according generalized protocol available objectively substantiate ‘anti-pollution’ claim, we evaluated several biomarkers after pollutants exposure in Raw 264.7 macro-phages HaCaT keratinocytes investigate possibility of anti-pollution cosmetic material fermented extract from Smilax china leaves (FESCL). FESCL decreased pollutants-induced luciferase activity dose-dependent manner, significantly inhibited XRE-luciferase at concentration 1%. IC50 value showed same DPPH scavenging 0.0625% as ascorbic acid, maximum (92.44%) permissible non-cytotoxic concentrations for cell was determined be 2%, where PGE2 production 78.20%. These results show against pollutant-stimulated living explants. conclusion, confirmed potential one functional materials formulation.
